Rongjiang – Leigong Mountain - Jidao Village - Datang Village

Road to Rongjiang. We could pass Leigong mountain on the way.

Leigong Mountain: Lying 15 kilometers east of Kaili City, Leigong Mountain is a main peak of the Miaoling Mountain Range. With an elevation of 2189 meters, Leigong Mountain is the highest mountain of the southeast area of Guizhou province. Legend has it that Leigongshan is rumored as the place where the God of Thunder (means "Leigong" in Chinese) lives. Every summer, thunderstorms can be heard resounding on the mountains, hence it got the name "Leigong Mountain".

Jidao Village：Located 25 km away from Kaili City, Jidao Miao Village consists of two villages: Shangzhai (Upper Village) and Xiazhai (Lower Village). Jidao Long-skirt Miao village is a typical ethnic village because of the minoritiy’s culture. Being a generational settlement of the Long Skirt Miao, Jidao Village remains original, remote and tranquil. Its villagers are very hospitable. The guests are usually served several cup of home-made wine (usually by beautiful girls) when they get into the entrance of the village.

Datang Village: Datang Miao Ethnic village is famous for its distinctive style short skirt wore by Miao female. The Miao miniskirt, measures 16 centimeters in length, but is made from 7 meters of local cloth. At each festival, women often dress their hand-making miniskirt to dance.

Sanjiang - TangAn Village - The wind-rain bridge

Drive to Sanjiang. (about 4h)

TangAn village：The TangAn village is located about 6 km east of Zhaoxing, it is on the southern side of Mount Longte. The TangAn village is about 840 meters above sea level. It was first built in the Jiaqin years of Qing Dynasty (A.D 1795-1820). It is now home to over 170 households and more than 800 people.  The Dong people live together in clans, and the two main clans being the Ying and Lu. They live scattered between the Banbo and Jiding ranges.

The wind-rain bridge:The Dong people usually build their villages across rivers. The wind-and-rain bridge is most characterized with their national features.A wind-and-rain Bridge is a wooden covered corridor bridge, with pavilions and benches. People can rest on the bridge sitting or lying. Since the bridge shields people from wind, rain and sunshine, it is called the wind-and-rain Bridge, or sometimes "the flower bridge". 

Lessons of Chinese painting– Fubo Hill –Reed Flute Cave

Fubo Hill ：Fubo Hill (Wave-Subduing Hill), is 120 meters long, 60 meters wide and 213 meters high. It stands solitarily in the northeast of the city and on west bank of Li River with half of the hill stretching into the river. Waves run back wherever they meet the blocks, hence the name "wave-subduing Hill". A tale has it that Ma Yuan who was called General Fubo from the Han Dynasty had once passed by Guilin on a southern expedition. He poured all the pearls he carried into the river, so the hill was named after him in his memory.

Reed Flute Cave : the cave got its name from the verdant reeds growing outside it, with which people make flutes. Inside this water-eroded cave is a spectacular world of various stalactites, stone pillars and rock formations created by carbonate deposition.
